As Ferry Amami and Ferry Kikai leave Kagoshima Honko Port in front of Sakurajima in the evening, they offer the view of majestic landscapes and Kagoshima’s city lights. At sea, the stars begin to shine as the sun sets and the sky turns dark.

The ferry arrives at Kikaijima at 4:30 the next morning, just before dawn breaks. As the ferry arrives early in the morning, be sure to check in advance where to have breakfast and where you can take a break after you disembark. After mooring, the ferry departs for Naze Port, Amami Oshima.

After leaving Kikaijima at 5 AM, the ferry heads for Naze Port, Amami Oshima. Enjoy the approximately two-hour cruise, appreciating the gradually brightening view. As you will arrive at Naze Port at 7 in the morning, you will have a whole day to see Amami Oshima. We recommend renting a car to make the start of the trip stress-free.

The route passes through the Oshima Strait that lies between Amami Oshima and Kakeromajima and stops by Koniya Port. The deeply indented coastline with a white sandy cove is exquisite, and it offers scenery you cannot see on the Kagoshima to Okinawa route that sails the open sea.

Since the ferry navigates to the next port of call, China, in Okinoerabujima, during the day, you can enjoy the sea voyage fully, appreciating the view of the approaching islands from the deck.
